Equitable AI Adoption (EAIA): Highlighting AI in Action
Tools and Resources|AIData and EvidenceEquity
At Project Evident, we believe AI can be a powerful tool to advance equity, impact, and learning — but only if adopted intentionally and sustainably. Our Equitable AI Adoption (EAIA) project, supported by the Gates Foundation, is designed to provide nonprofit leaders, funders, and educators with actionable tools and real-world insights for responsibly leveraging AI.
Centered around a practical framework for organizations considering the adoption of equitable AI, this series highlights the real-world experiences of organizations leveraging AI and technology to help them better serve their missions. Through these case studies, podcasts, and webinars, we aim to help nonprofit leaders and funders move from curiosity to action — and from exploration to enduring, equitable results.
Quill.org provides free, AI-powered literacy tools to over 3 million students annually. This case explores how the organization pivoted from predictive to generative AI, rebuilt its core infrastructure, and embedded educators in the development process to stay mission-aligned while adapting to rapid technological change.
Crisis Text Line supports people in crisis through free, 24/7 text-based mental health services. This case explores what it takes to maintain and innovate within a complex AI-powered platform, including the hidden costs of “tech debt,” security, and AI readiness.
