In 2020, Baltimore City Public Schools needed to make changes to its Career and Technical Education programming. A set of reports drew attention to quality and equity concerns about their career readiness program: the most rigorous course offerings were located in the highest performing schools, while course offerings tied to lower-level job opportunities were concentrated in schools with lower academic achievement.

Project Evident partnered with City Schools to change its career readiness course offerings to be more aligned with labor market demand, student interest, and location concerns to support equitable access for all students. This work provided City Schools with actionable data and evidence to drive decision making, so they could achieve their mission: to improve students’ employment prospects and earnings after graduation.
