Stephen Rockwell
Senior Technical Advisor, OutcomesAI

Project Evident is pleased to announce that Stephen Rockwell, an AI and digital strategist and social impact leader, has joined our OutcomesAI team as Senior Technical Advisor. In this role, Stephen will lead the technological components of our OutcomesAI practice, helping to guide the development of AI tools that will empower practitioners in the social and education sectors to drive stronger and more equitable outcomes for their communities. He will also advise Project Evident’s own digital transformation.

Stephen brings extensive experience to Project Evident. His career has focused on leveraging technology to address social and environmental challenges. Stephen previously served as Chief Digital Officer at Benefits Data Trust and Chief Program Officer and Chief Technology Officer at Charity Navigator. He is also the founder of HumanServices.ai, which leverages AI to improve how human services are delivered to ensure that communities receive the support they need. Stephen has built AI-driven products and models for social impact, advised federal and state governments on AI policy, and currently sits on the Partnership for AI’s Global Task Force for Inclusive AI.

“I’m so excited to join Project Evident and to collaborate with a team that is at the forefront of innovation in impact-focused AI. I look forward to contributing to the development of AI tools that center practitioners and bring about meaningful, scalable change in our communities,” said Stephen.

“Stephen’s expertise in digital strategy and his deep commitment to using technology for social good make him a perfect fit for our OutcomesAI practice,” said Kelly Fitzsimmons, Project Evident’s Founder and CEO. “His leadership will be critical as we build next-generation tools that help practitioners and their funders not only understand but improve their impact.”

Sarah Di Troia, Managing Director of OutcomesAI, added: “We are thrilled to welcome Stephen to our growing OutcomesAI team. AI can be a powerful tool to enhance equitable outcomes but only if it is shaped by practitioners and the communities they serve. Stephen’s experience as a practitioner using AI to scale impact and commitment to equitable access to AI aligns with our vision and values for OutcomesAI. With his expertise, we are well-positioned to equip leaders to deploy emerging technologies and drive stronger outcomes for the communities they serve.”

About OutcomesAI

Project Evident’s OutcomesAI practice advances the use of artificial intelligence (AI) for greater impact within the social and education sectors. As AI continues to evolve, its potential to transform operations, enhance outcomes, and drive systemic change in civil society has never been greater. Despite this, many social and educational organizations have yet to embrace AI and related technology fully, and existing AI tools often focus solely on outputs rather than meaningful outcomes. OutcomesAI bridges this gap by providing consulting, technical assistance, resources, and field-building initiatives to help practitioners and funders strengthen their ability to use AI to understand and improve their impact, support decision making, advance R&D, and allocate resources toward better and more equitable outcomes.
